Catch of the Day: January 7, 2011 50's Schiaparelli Purple Art Glass Brooch

This exquisite 50's art glass Grape Leaves Brooch is signed by Elsa Schiaparelli.  Truly purple synthetic stones are very rare, as it's a difficult color to "fake".  It almost would have been less costly to have used amethyst or, the as-yet-undiscovered tanzanite.  The brooch measures approximately 3" by 2" and is made of a silvertoned metal.  I'm not sure what the metal is.  It has much too lovely a patina to be rhodium,  and has aged far too well to be pot metal.  If I didn't know better, I would think it was silver, and perhaps it is - though certainly not of sterling quality.  The brooch is available on eBay and will come to you nicely gift boxed should you wish to use it as a present (and what a delightful present to receive!)  Offered by Kraftyrose for the very-reasonable Buy-It-Now price of $145.00.  Were she to have started the bidding at $9.99, I'm convinced the final sales price would have exceeded the asking price.

Kraftyrose has recently acquired some estates with fine costume jewelry collections, and her stock is more than worthy of a second glance by you.  She has a truly stunning Pennino brooch, a knock-out Weiss bracelet, and an Eisenberg Originals Fur Clip which is as fine as any I've ever seen.

Shop well kittens!
