Catch of the Day: February 8, 2011

You know those email questionnaires? the "getting to know you" ones? Inevitably, there is a question which reads, "Diamonds or pearls?" and each time, I write in "Rhinestones".  Rhinestones, you see, one does not have to worry about.  Rhinestones will not break your heart if a stone falls out, or if they get lost.

But these kittens, these are the real thing. 14K white gold and diamonds. Lovely cufflinks that stand right in the gap between Art Deco and Art Moderne. I adore them. I adore cufflinks for merely being cufflinks. But I adore these for being magnificent.

When did men decide that buttons would suffice?  I object.  I - as Demi Moore said  in A Few Good Men - strenuously object.  Cufflinks are a touch of civility in a world all too lacking in civility,  and this pair is tremendous.

Found, naturally, on eBay, the design is beyond reproach.  A 10 point diamond stands in one corner with the rays of light radiating out from them like the lines on a pre-war Japanese Imperial Flag.

Guaranteed to enhance any tuxedo.  And it would be a shame to wear them with less than a tux.  They are that quiet coup de grace. The final perfect touch a lady would notice only if she were close enough to notice.  And then she would be close enough.

They measure 7/8" by 3/4" and have sufficient depth to accommodate any shirt.

Offered, for our appreciation and consideration, by bubbleking for the Buy-It-Now Price of $675.00.

You should take a moment, no, more than a moment to view their other offerings.  This morning some art glass, and a hand hammered sterling mirror and comb set will close which are so beautiful if hurts the heart to view them.  It truly hurts.

There's a reason they call it "fine" jewelry kitten.  This old costume jewelry collector hates to admit that, but it's true.  There is a reason indeed.

Happy shopping!
